It was a pleasure for us to support the long-established German Bundesliga football team of our hometown, the Hamburger SV (HSV) during the season 2017/18. WISKA and the Hamburger SV (HSV) not only share a sporting fighting spirit, we also have a special commitment to young talent in common. Therefore, WISKA was one of the first companies to get involved in HSV’s newly formed association for young talents.

U17 Soccer World Cup in India: We keep our fingers crossed for our newcomers!
Great opening match by Fiete Arp at the U17 Soccer World Cup in India: With a goal and a pass, he led the German Team to a 2:1 victory against Costa Rica. What a performance! In the following game against Iran, the team had less success and the youngsters got a 0:4 defeat. That’s why they have to fear about getting kicked out of the World Cup at their game on Friday.
„We will definitely keep our fingers crossed for the upcoming match on Friday. As well as the employees of our subsidiary in India. They also assure us of their mental support. So it can only be a good match against Guinea,“ says Ronald Hoppmann, Managing Director of WISKA as well as a big fan of the Hamburger SV (HSV) Bundesliga team.
The U17 Soccer World Cup takes place in India from 6 - 28 of October with all eyes on the young Hamburger SV talent Fiete Arp (17).
"Fiete Arp is a great example of what can happen if we strengthen young people and foster their talent. Of course, this also involves handling defeats,“ says Ronald Hoppmann.

Hand in hand for youth development
Besides our home city Hamburg and our fighting spirit, also our special support of young talents connects us well with the Hambuger SV (HSV). Therefore, we are happy not only to continue our sponsoring as an “Official Supplier” to the long-established German Bundesliga team for the season 2017 / 18, but also to get involved in official
sponsoring of their young talents.
With big excitement we did our kickoff fotoshooting at the sport club´s newly built campus building close to the HSV stadium together with HSV CEO Heribert Bruchhagen, head of the HSV youth training centre Dr Dieter Gudel and the two U21 players Matti Steinmann and Moritz-Broni Kwarteng.

In difficult times real fans become apparent
On Europe’s leading exhibition for electric automation, the SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg we have raffled off an original HSV-jersey signed by the HSV-Bundesliga players. It was a gift by Alen Halilović who gave an autograph session on the WISKA stand of SMM in Hamburg.
Despite some teasing comments from some die-hard Bavarian soccer fans who addressed the currently challenging ranking of the HSV, it quickly became apparent who the true fans of the HSV were. And we are certain that the jersey will bring joy to its winner.

Legend meets legend: HSV legend Uwe Seeler at the ‘WISKA Wembley Revival Cup’
The ‘Wembley Revival Cup’, with WISKA facing the English subsidiary, was held on 28 June at the Hamburger SV ground. The surprise guest was HSV legend Uwe Seeler, who gave a first-hand account of that Wembley final.
On the matter of which of the WISKA teams the ex-international was supporting, Seeler declared: “This time I am neutral and the main thing here is friendship.” Seeler stayed until the end and like all of us, took the 8-4 friendly victory by the English WISKA team in good spirit.
01.07.2016:
What a goal! WISKA is official supplier to HSV.
At the start of the year we sat together in Hamburg with colleagues from our English subsidiary. The main topic of conversation for the evening was the legendary Wembley goal. German colleagues were obviously convinced that it was not a goal. Our colleagues from WISKA UK thought differently of course. That is how it is when you are discussing the most famous goal in footballing history.
An idea came out of the discussion. The idea gave rise to a plan:
A ‘Wembley revival match’. A fun event for employees at which WISKA UK and WISKA Germany would face each other on the football pitch. History could be re-written. All very tongue-in-cheek, of course.
The company’s creative juices began to flow: how about holding the match in Hamburg at the HSV stadium, and taking our employees to the stadium on the HSV bus?
Words became actions: the match went ahead.
The ‘WISKA Wembley Revival Cup’ would be held on HSV’s ground. We met with officials from HSV to present our idea and the pieces just fell into place.
The result: WISKA will be an official supplier to HSV for the 2016/17 season! We are delighted to be able to announce this!
